It had been over 11 years since Zachary had been to the doctor for a routine physical. Last week, I decided it was time, and hauled him in. He really liked his doctor, and the visit was as painless as a visit like that can be. They told us to expect a card in the mail, if all the labs came back normal. If there was any bad news, they would call us on the phone.
Well, the next day we got a phone call. Zach's blood work came back with very low thyroid levels. It would be bad news if it weren't for the fact that this explains so much! Zach has been progressively getting more tired and "foggy headed." He thought he was losing his mind!! He is so excited that he doesn't have to feel this way anymore!

We picked up the thyroid medicine right away, and though he has only been taking it two days, I think he has already noticed a little difference! The bad news is that he will have to take it for the rest of his life. The good news is that it only costs $4.00 a month at Wal-Mart. I have to say that I am really amazed and thankful that Wal-Mart offers those $4.00 generics!
We don't know the cause for the low thyroid levels (though it does run in the family). We will have more news later (Zach's blood was sent away for further testing). Hopefully it's a minor condition with a simple fix! We feel like we were definately 'prompted' to go to the doctor, and we were even 'complelled' to ask the doctor to check thyroid levels. We are so grateful because we know our Heavenly Father loves us ... we feel this is really an answer to our prayers.
